The Meeting

This was written in response to Trump's plan to develop Greenland and steal its resources.

Please listen to this tale of disgust and despair,

of Sunshine, of Cloud, of Rain, Mist and Snow

and our meeting in Summer with the sky aglow.

Wild winter had gone leaving trees fallen, rivers flooded.

Spring had been sunny with the sky YInMn Blue.

Red-raged members assembled.

Humans were meddling; people just managing;

Icebergs were melting; deserts were forming.

It was sad to think

that time was so short

and in a president’s blink

the earth could abort.

Wind spoke first in a whisper weak with wear;

I’ve been blowing for months with barely a break;

I’m tired, I’m stale, I’m worried I’ll fail.

Rain was relentless filling rivers, filling lakes

but now a misplaced nomad drowning deserts.

Snow felt surplus as the Arctic was warming

but Sunshine was buzzing, soaking the scene

with her ever-warm presence.

We elements all realised

that retribution would come

when men’s meddling was paid

because their leaders were dumb.

Wh-wh-what can we do stuttered Cloud,

His willowy voice wafting aloud.

I’m making mistakes fluttered Mist.

Temperature appeared in a tropical heat.

Things must change we all concurred;

our meeting today is to plan our next deed.

Sunshine called order and

the meeting convened.

It’s time to fight back

everyone agreed

there’s nothing we lack

but we need to make speed.

This island of Greenland must never be lost;

The damaging drilling has to be stopped,

but we must make haste.

Snow, Wind and Temperature said

we’ll develop a plan.

The temperature can drop,

snow’s blizzards can fall whilst wind can blow wild.

Their platforms will fall; their drilling will drop.

With their plans put on hold

we’ll target the nation

we’ll cover the land with a blanket of cold

and close down their station.

And what about the Amazon;

this deforestation; it’s devastating.

Without those trees the Earth can’t breathe.

And those fires said mist,

They’re worse than they’ve been.

More burning, more gases, higher temperatures,

drier land, more fires. This cycle repeats.

Their damage will go on.

Our members all nodded

earth’s lungs are collapsing

natives defrauded

habitats disappearing.

Rain raised her voice, clear and strong,

I'll pour down in torrents where fires burn bright,

flood their machinery, wash away their roads.

I’ll darken the skies cried Cloud,

block out the sun.

Temperature whispered I’ll fluctuate wild,

make planning impossible, costs will explode

whilst Mist creeps in silence corroding their tools,

Together we'll create

a symphony of force

to show them their fate

and blow them off course
