Family History

I’ve been researching my family history for a number of years now. Like most people who do genealogical research I have a wealth of names and dates but I’ve also discovered stories. Some of them are probably apocryphal. Nevertheless they’re worth recording.

Here you’ll find Slaters, Sauls, Brogans, Huntingdons, Cunninghams and Southworths amongst others. Some were weavers, some spinners. There are soldiers, labourers, chair makers and shop keepers. Many of them lived in Lancashire but I've also found Irish ancestors.

What I’ve discovered doing this research is that behind every name in a census or a certificate there was a person with a life and a story to tell. I've divided these stories into surname histories. So you can click on Slaters, Sauls, Brogans etc to discover their stories.
